Our Medford Branch

AAUW had its beginning in 1881 when Marion Talbot and Ellen H. Richards invited 15 alumnae to a meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. Their goal was to create an organization of women college graduates dedicated to help other women obtain higher education. In 1882 this group along with 50 other graduates founded an organization, The Association of Collegiate Alumnae, the forerunner of our American Association of University Women (AAUW). Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 1981, AAUW could point with pride to 190,000 members, 1,935 branches, and 735 corporate members.

The spirit of Marion Talbot and Ellen Richards lives on in our Medford Branch; we are proud of the scholarships we have awarded to the women of Jackson County. And we devote many hours to helping the women and young people in the community. But we also enjoy our social activities-we have fun!

If you are considering becoming a member of our branch, you will find in these web pages a schedule of our meetings, a list of our activities, a description of our scholarships, and further information about our branch and AAUW.

We hope you will join us.
